| Shotcrete/Gunite will be one of your biggest expenses! Shotcrete: The terms Gunite and Shotcrete will be used interchangeably (and will throughout this site), but there is a difference, technically. The main difference between Gunite and Shotcrete is that Gunite equates to dry-mix process where sand and cement is mixed on your job site. Shotcrete describes the wet-mix/readymix process. For most jobs, we used Shotcrete. This means that the concrete-to-water ratio is per-determined at the plant where the concrete is made. There are three key pieces of equipment needed to make the process work. The first is the concrete pump that the concrete will be fed into. Second is the air compressor, which applies air at the nozzle. Third is the 12 cubic yard ready mix truck, which carries the concrete. The black hose delivers the shotcrete from the pump to the pool. The red hose contains the compressed air that forces the shotcrete out of the hose at the nozzle. |
